Did I use this GIF only because it had Nicola Coughlan in it? Absolutely. However, I am quite busy stirring up manuscripts and goodies for you guys this year! We’re ONE MONTH away from the release of YOU CAKE MY BREATH AWAY, the third book(fourth if you count the Fizz the Season novelette) in my Wordplay Series.
Lots of emotions come along with a new book release, and tbh, right now I’m feeling defeated. The release for GNOME ONE LIKE YOU was fantastic! Releasing a book right before the holidays that includes a second chance romance between two estranged friends who get snowed in with family and make good use of Christmas decorations, just seemed to be catnip!
Who could blame them? Dandelion and Winchester’s story was just the perfect bite for the holiday season.
But gaining traction for another book release so soon after a holiday season is DIFFICULT. Most people have made resolutions that they aren’t going to buy another book until they read everything on their TBR, or have put themselves on book buying bans, so that makes it a task to push preorders.
YOU CAKE MY BREATH AWAY comes out the week of Valentine’s Day. Did I do that purposefully so that I could capitalize on all those loving partners who know their other half wants a book? 🤭 Perhaps.
If you’re new here and don’t know what my book is about, let me break it down for you!
Tilly is a widow who finds out her late husband bought her a dream bakery location before he passed, but there’s a catch. It’s a fixer-upper, and the person her husband tasked with getting it ready for opening? His grumpy best friend, Archer. Someone Tilly used to consider a friend too. As they work together, picking out paint swatches and building shelves, long dormant chemistry bubbles back to the surface. This could be their second chance at happily-ever-after, or it might collapse like an overdone soufflé.
Preorders
All of my preorders are live right now. If you want a signed paperback, I have them available on my website. There is also an option for a signed paperback with goodies(stickers, bookmark, character art). I’ve added a sneak peek of the sketch I’ve commissioned for them below!
Currently, if you pre-order the eBook on Amazon you can grab it for $2.99. After release, the price will go up to $4.99.

Character art
This scene is one of my favorite scenes in the book. I won’t tell you much about it other than it’s the calm before the storm…and dear reader, there are a few storms in this book. It might be a contemporary romance, but there’s a lot of heartwarming and heart wrenching moments in it. We tackle grief and healing, and every emotion in between.
Thank you a million to my artist, Emi D from emdrawsthings.
Reviews
Another thing that helps indie authors? REVIEWS! If you liked a book and would recommend it to your friends, please consider reviewing it on your social media or on one of the many review sites(Amazon, Goodreads, Storygraph, i.e)
If you’ve read one of my stories, I’d love it if you left a review! I’ll leave the links below
Drafts
I just hit 30k in the companion novel to THE BOTTOM LINE. This story follows Rosay, Stella’s best friend, as she embarks on a fake engagement to her grumpy boss to show her Wine Country Royalty family that she has her life together. I’ve been trying to get words on the page, but with the winter break and three kids at home, it hasn’t been easy.
I love Rosay and Graham’s chemistry. Rosay is a tenacious woman who is always ready to call someone on their bullshit, but is having trouble seeing her own. And Graham…he’s trying to focus on turning the investment company around, but there’s this pink-haired vixen that keeps distracting him.
Hopefully this will be published in June, so wish me luck!
Snacks
The name is a little sus, but these things are good! Chocolate, coconut, and graham cracker crumbs? How can you resist! I like having something sweet I can munch on during my writing sprint breaks, and these hit the spot and give me that extra little pep for my next round.
If this sounds good to you, here’s the recipe! No-bake Chocolate Coconut Treats
Writing Hacks
The beginning of the year is usually reset time for most people. We think of all we want to accomplish in the year and make a plan how to achieve that goal. As a writer, it’s always good to get back to the basics by reading craft books. Our brains are wired for story, but we can always learn more or relearn something we’ve forgotten.
I have my few trusted and true craft books I like to return to, but someone helpfully compiled a list of some of the most popular ones!
