Why do the last few weeks before a book release feel like I’m standing on a battlefield just waiting to be trampled? That’s probably because the minute Wine in a Million is out there, it’s no longer safe from opinions! Publishing books is hella fun, but it also takes a thick skin to know that not everyone is going to like what you’ve written.
Rosay’s story is different than what I’ve written in previous books. After writing books that really delved into grief and mental health, I wanted to explore something a little lighter. Not that Rosay and Graham don’t have their own stuff to deal with, but the story overall deals more with forgiving yourself for past hurts and not excluding yourself from things that can be good for you.
Full transparency: I do this. I’m the first one to exclude myself from something because I think I won’t fit in. I’m a neurodivergent who can barely keep a conversation on track let alone sit in a group with multiple conversations going on because I struggle with auditory processing. Most times it’s easier not to put myself in a situation where I’m going to be looked at as “that” friend, the one you include because you have to, not because you want to. Is it true that no one wants to be my friend? Absolutely not. Does my brain try to trick me into thinking that I won’t find my “tribe”, yup. It’s on me to break that train of thought before it takes off from the station.
In Wine in a Million, Rosay deals with that when it comes to her family. She has a past she’s not proud of, and she lets it get in the way of truly becoming part of her family.
If this sounds like you, I hope that you’re able to see yourself in Rosay, or at least empathize with her!
Preorders!
I try to be as transparent as possible when it comes to life as an indie author, and preorders are no different. This has been my worst preorder campaign thus far, but it’s the book I’ve put the biggest push behind. I’ve commissioned more character art, created more stickers, and yet it hasn’t translated to orders. I’m sure some of this is that people are still on book buying bans or more people are reading on KU or Kobo, and it could also just be that my book isn’t appealing to the masses(Remember, reading is SUBJECTIVE!)
However, I am thankful for all the preorders that I have received. I’m really excited to get this book into your hands.
If you would like to preorder the book, you get a personalized copy, a double-sided bookmark, some book specific stickers, and character art!
Character Art
I haven’t revealed this one on social media yet, but I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek before I do! The lovely Francinne F on Etsy rendered this beautiful artwork!
